| (1690 1751) Cassels came from a Huguenot family which settled
in Hesse He greatly influenced the development of Anglo Irish architecture during the Georgian period. Among his greatest works are Russborough and Powerscourt in County Wicklow, Westport House in County Mayo, Newbridge in Dublin and Stokestown House in Roscommon. His style was Palladian with heavy mouldings and sculptured stonework. |
